A talented fish keeper Raghu lived in
a small village alongside the holy Ganges, river bowing. Most of his time was
spent in monitoring his fish or sailing on the river. One day while attempting
to swim across the river, become attacked by fishes and after earning so many
injuries, Raghu saw a gorgeous girl on the stone bathed. Since then, he has
been coming back every day to see her handle those things.
Priya was that most beautiful woman
next to megananda actually a goddess, with white skin like the moon and black
hair like the night sky. Once he rang the bell, everybody felt a little bit of
joy. My heart is filled with sentiments. Taking the plunge for once, he asked
her hand but she bowed her head. How can I marry you in such a big crowd?
But still having invest some courage,
Raghu made up his mind to pay a visit to Priya’s house going through the back
and most dangerous river. So, while he was rowing a strong crocodile was
following him intending to bite him but Raghu was clever and a good boat rower.
Now comes the temple of goddess which
is about a Ten kilometers away from Priya’s village. And as he got to their
village it was Kali puja, a religious festival observed. The villagers were
hoping to offer some kind of kala for Goddess Maa Kali, this horrified Raghu.
He had taken up refuge inside a garden and it was there that Priya had found
him at the striking hour of midnight.
When Priya noticed him, she attempted
to shout, but he hushed her. “What are you doing here?” she quivered.
“Priya, it is YOU I came for,” Raghu
stated. “It’s because I cannot live without you.”Priya.
Priya noticed with satisfaction that
he was courageous as well as intelligent, claver, so she accepted his proposal.
Priya’s parents, seeing the threat
that it posed, thankfully told the young couple to run away and they blessed
the couple. “You take our daughter. Raghu, take care of her.”
Raghu and Priya waded through the
undercurrents of the dark river and surfaced. It was a different day as it was
their love blossoming more than the sun that was coming up.
Time went by and their love kept
growing. Raghu had been going out to fish which he was doing richly, only this
time around he had his wife Priya. They would sail across the river as they
closed their eyes to remember how accidentally they had met and the excitement
of how everything had elapsed.
The village came out in masses to
support them, and their love was a reason to look forward to the yearly Kali
Puja where it was now a celebration of defeat, fear, and traditions because of
Raghu and Priya.
As they sat beside the water one
evening with Raghu facing Priya, he said, ‘You are like my Ganga, the river
which carries me for eternity’.
Priya grinned, her eyes glittering
with joy, “And you Raghu, are my riverbanks, the beautiful haven to which I’ll
retreat to for all eternity”.
The river continued to pour, for it
saw love from both ends and passed on true meanings of devotion.
THE END.
